Setting the NTFS file system to optimize registry

In the case of the same hardware devices, file system is an important factor affecting the computer speed. currently file system format of personal system being recommended is NTFS. To enable NTFS file system to improve system performance with better help, we can optimize it.

1, turn off access time scale
We open any file's attributes of the NTFS sub-district, in itsGeneral" tab, we can see the file creation time, modification time and last access time. If the number of documents within the district is more, and the directory structure is multi-layer, so each visit or change will update the time scale information. In this regard, we can modify the registry to prohibit system update it.

Runregedit", open Registry Editor, and then locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / FileSystem, double-clickNtfsdisablelastassessupdate", set its value to1".

2, forhibit 8.3 name format
In the early windows operating system, especially among the DOS system, the file name has been taken to 8.3 format. In NTFS partition of Windows XP, has no such restrictions. However, when we switch to the command prompt window, you will find the lord file name more than 8 characters will be replaced by ~ symbol. So we can find the key NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation in the registry, set its value to 1, it can prohibit Windows XP's NTFS partition use 8.3 format.

3, optimize the Master File Table
The master file table save index information file of the disk, with the increasing number of hard disk files, master file table storage space will also follow up, the fragment is also inevitable. We can also modify the registry to increase its storage space to avoid fragment.
Open the Registry, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / FileSystem, double-click the DWord key of NtfsMftzonereservation and set its value to 3 or 4.
